B3D PREMIUM PLA FILAMENT

Material: PLA (Polylactic acid)

Diameter: 1.75mm

PLA material is a biodegradable thermoplastic which is derived from renewable resources, such as cornstarch, sugar cane. This makes PLA the most environmentally friendly material in the domain of 3D printing. PLA is tough, though it has the feature of a little brittle, we tried to improve its performance during production. When printing, PLA is odorless, low shrinkage, good rigidity, excellent gloss of printed object, no heated print bed necessary, high printing speed,  available in rich colors.

Print Settings:

PLA Filament is normally extruded at around 190-220℃, with printing speed as 50-60 mm/s. A heated print-bed is not mandatory, but many users are inclined to set it at around 50℃ to get a better printing performance. Opening the fan near the extruding nozzle is usually recommended to speed up the cooling down.

Application:

Because of its feature, tough and easy to operate, PLA Filament is almost the most popular material for FDM/FFF 3D printing. Objects printed with PLA filament are now being used in many fields. Many parts of 3D printers can be printed with PLA filament. The rich available colors and translucency and glossy feel often make it a good choice of printing for display or small household uses.

Post Processing:

The objects printed with PLA filament is usually glossy on the surface. So post processing is sometime not needed. But PLA can be sanded down and may be painted over with acrylic paint. Some people in the 3D printing community recommend to use super glue to do parts gluing.

Storage Method:

PLA can attract water molecules from the air if it is exposed to the air. It may become brittle and sometimes difficult to print with. So please keep it stored in sealed, cool and dry condition.

B3D ABS FILAMENT

Material: ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)

Diameter: 1.75mm

Features:

ABS material is generally very durable and strong, slightly flexible and quite resistant to heat. It has good shock absorbing properties and great plastic properties. It solidifies quickly, durable and difficult to break, ideal for mechanical parts.

Print Setting:

ABS Filament is generally operated at the temperature around 210-250℃. Because of the feature of ABS material, ABS Filament cools down quickly, so 3D Printer need a heated print bed(around 110℃)to process ABS filament, in order to prevent warping or cracking of the printed object.  ABS filament is better printed in a well ventilated area.

Application:

ABS is used in a very large variety of applications in the industry nowadays. Its strength, flexibility, machinability, and higher temperature resistance make it often a preferred plastic for engineers, and professional applications.

Post Processing:

ABS can easily be sanded (to smooth the printed objects and removed jagged edged) and painted. The ABS printed parts can simply be glued together and it is soluble in acetone.

Storage Method:

If your ABS filament roll will be put on hold over a long time, please store it properly in an airtight container. ABS does attract moisture from the ambient air, which may affect your prints.

B3D PETG FILAMENT

Material: PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol)

Features:

PETG filament is a close to PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) filament. PETG is a new updated version that has enhanced properties. It has minimal shrinkage and warping.

PETG filament has good flexible strength more than ABS filament. The filament is super transparent with a glossy finish. PETG filament is also environmentally friendly and recyclable. PETG is known for it’s transparency and clarity.

Print Setting:

The ideal print temperature is between 220°C – 250°C. Please note that different printers print at slightly different temperatures.

The filament has easy adhesion, so it can be printed on acrylic, glass, polyimide (Kapton) tape, blue tape, and others. A heated bed is not required.

Application:

PETG Filament is the perfect filament to combine strength and flexibility, which is why it’s used in so many mechanical parts or robotics. It has great chemical resistance with good acidic and alkalic resistance. The superb chemical resistance is why the FDA has approved PET as acceptable for direct food contact.

Post Processing:

The objects printed with PETG filament can be sanded down.

Storage Method:

If your PETG filament roll will be put on hold over a long time, please store it properly in an airtight container.

B3D FLEXIBLE TPU FILAMENT

Material: TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane)

Features:

Flexible filament is based off of TPU, which is Thermoplastic Polyurethane. In the domain of 3D printing, the two most popular filaments PLA and ABS lack a crucial physical property – flexibility. TPU 3D printing filament is a soft flexible plastic that retains its original shape and form. It is a bendable yet strong and durable plastic.

Print Settings:

Recommended printing settings:

Extrusion Temperature: 200 – 220°C
Heated Bed Plate: not mandatory
Print Speed: 30 – 40 mm/s
Generally, Flexible filaments is better printed on direct extruders (where a geared motor pulls filament directly into the hot end). Flexible filament will adhere well to most surfaces such as aluminum, glass, blue painters tape, and Kapton tape.

Application:

There are many uses for TPU as a plastic. TPU plastic is used in car parts to power tools and medical devices. It is also very popular in protective cases for mobile phones and tablets due to its high flexibility. The flexible filament printed objects also has the flexibility.

Post Processing:

TPU plastic is very resistant to oils and grease but must be kept away from solvents, acids, and fuels. Cleaning a printed part is easy and can be accomplished with mild soap.

Storage Method:

As with all 3D filaments, please store in a cool airtight container. Flexible TPU filament has some water resistance, but the product will degrade if left submerged in water.

B3D CARBON FIBER FILAMENT

Material: Carbon Fiber Reinforced PLA

Features:

Carbon Fiber PLA is another alternative filament to hit the market. Mixed with small, chopped carbon fiber strands, this material offers incredible rigidity, structural characteristics, and great layer adhesion.

Carbon Fiber Reinforced PLA filament provides fabulous structural strength and layer adhesion with very low warpage. Due to the carbon fiber contained in the filament, it has increased rigidity, therefore increased structural support built right in.

Print Settings:

Carbon Fiber filament is extruded at 210-240℃. Processing is comparable to standard PLA. No heated bed required. It has very good printing performance when using a 0.4mm nozzle and direct-drive spring loaded pinch-roll style extrusion head. Layer adhesion is excellent and warpage is low.

Application:

Carbon Fiber filament is perfect for printing items that do not bend, such as: frames, supports, propellers and so on.

Post Processing:

The post processing is similar with PLA, it can be sanded down and may be painted over with acrylic paint. Because of the Carbon Fiber contained in the filament, so the available color is single as black. So post painting is a good choice to make it into other colors.

Storage Method:

CF filament will attract water molecules from the air if it is exposed to the air. It will become more brittle and sometimes difficult to print with. So please keep it stored in sealed, cool and dry condition.

B3D WOOD FILAMENT

Material: Wood - PLA

Features:

Wood filament for 3D printing is a new 3D Printing material that was developed to print wooden-like objects. This filament is a polymer composite material appended with wood powder. The printing our wood filament is similar to PLA filament.

Print Settings:

The printing of wood filament is similar to PLA filament. Extruded at around 190-220℃. The print temperature may slight affect the print performance. Please extrude a little extra wood filament at the beginning of a print to prevent dry extrusion. Also, increasing the retraction setting during slicing will reduce “leakage.”

Application:

As the applications of 3D Printing, presentation or art design sometimes need to show the lifelike objects. The wooden-like effect does a great help to illustrate.

Post Processing:

The finished wood print will appear rough and similar to MDF. Usually, it can be post processed similar to PLA printed object to improve the printed objects.

Storage Method:

WOOD Filament will also attract water molecules from the air if it is exposed to the air. It will become brittle and sometimes affect the printing. So please keep it stored in sealed, cool and dry condition.

B3D PREMIUM TWINKLING FILAMENT

Features:

Twinkling filament is a brand new material for 3D Printing. It is a composite PLA material, also biodegradable. The appearance of twinkling like feel makes it very popular as soon as it was to the market. Similar to PLA, it is tough, odorless, low shrinkage, good rigidity, no heated print bed necessary, high print speed. The printed objects are very beautiful.

Print Settings:

Twinkling Filament is operated at around 190-220℃. Recommended printing speed as 50-60 mm/s and a heated print bed as 50℃ will be helpful for printing, but not mandatory. Opening the fan near the extruding nozzle is usually recommended to speed up the cooling down.

Application:

Because of the special appearance, the twinkling filament is usually used to print some beautiful decorations or art design objects.

Post Processing:

The post processing of twinkling filament is sometime not needed. If necessary, it can be sanded down to get the expected effect.

Storage Method:

Twinkling filament will also attract water molecules from the air if it is exposed to the air. It will become brittle and sometimes difficult to print with. So please keep it stored in sealed, cool and dry condition.

B3D ZMARBLE FILAMENT

Material: Composite Upgraded PLA

Features:

Z-Marble Filament is the composite and upgraded PLA material. The most featured characteristic is the marble like appearance. It’s properties are similar with PLA filament. It is also biodegradable and tough. When printing, Z-Marble filament is odorless, low shrinkage, good rigidity, no heated print bed necessary.

Application:

Because of its special appearance, the Z-Marble filament is very loved by many users. The printed objects look like marble. They use it to do some designing work, to print marble-like model for exhibition.

Print Settings:

Z-Marble filament is extruded around 180-220℃。Same with PLA filament, a heated print-bed is nor mandatory, but a little heat may be beneficial to the printed object. Opening the fan on the 3D printer to speed up the cooling down is also recommended.

Post Processing:

Printed objects made from Z-Marble filament can be sanded down and may be painted over with acrylic paint. Some people recommend to use super clue to do gluing.

Storage Method:

If your Z-Marble filament roll will be put on hold over a long time, please also store it properly in an airtight container to keep it from attracting moisture from the ambient air.

B3D Silky Filament

Material: Polymer Composite PLA

Diameter: 1.75mm

Diameter Tolerance: +/- 0.03mm

Features:

Silky Filament is a Polymer composite PLA material. It has higher strength but also biodegradable. The appearance is very glossy, looks like silk satin, that’s why it is named silky filament.  Different with PLA filament, silky filament has higher toughness, not brittle. It has low shrinkage, good rigidity, excellent gloss of print model.

Print Settings:

Silky Filament is extruded at around 190-230℃. A relatively lower printing speed is recommended to get a flat and smooth surface and shine like silky satin. The heated print-bed is recommended to be set at around 50℃. It will be better to open the fan near the extruding nozzle.

Application:

Unlike the printed objects printed by other filament, the silky filament printed model has a very shinny appearance itself. It is usually used to print some beautiful decorations or art design objects.

Post Processing:

Because of the specialty of silky filament printed objects, it is very glossy. So the post processing is sometimes only need to remove the support material, it can be sanded down.

Storage Method:

Same with other 3D Filament, silky filament will attract water molecules from the air if it is exposed to the air. It will affect the printing performance. So please keep it stored in sealed, cool and dry condition.

B3D Nylon Filament

Material: Nylon (PA)

Diameter: 1.75mm

Diameter Tolerance: +/- 0.03mm

Feature:

Nylon is an incredibly strong, durable, and versatile 3D printing material. Flexible when thin, but with very high inter-layer adhesion.

Print Setting:

Nylon (PA) Filament is generally extruded at around 230-270℃. A heated print-bed is recommended.

Many users recommended to use a special glue to stick the printed object with the print bed.

Application:

Nylon lends itself well to things like living hinges and other functional parts. So Nylon filament printed objects are used in many mechanical parts.

Post Processing:

The objects printed with Nylon filament is very strong. So some special post processing methods are needed.

Storage Method:

Nylon filament is extremely sensitive to moisture, so taking drying measures during storage and immediately prior to printing (using desiccant, vacuum, or elevated temperature) is highly recommended for best results.

B3D PVA FILAMENT

Material: PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol)

Diameter: 1.75mm

Diameter Tolerance: +/- 0.03mm

Features:

PVA filament is a water-soluble synthetic polymer, it dissolves in water. Many 3D printer users find PVA to be the perfect support filament because of its dissolvable properties. In general, PVA filament is used in conjunction with PLA not ABS. PVA adheres well to PLA and not ABS.

Print Settings:

As a supporting material, PVA filament is extruded the same with the other filament when printing. Its operating temperature is 200-230℃. PVA filament is used in conjunction with PLA filament

Application:

PVA Filament is mostly used as supporting material, together with PLA filament as the body part.

Post Processing:

PVA Filament dissolves in water. So the post processing is very simple-to sink it into water for hours.

Storage Method:

As a water soluble filament, PVA filament is very sensitive to water. So it must be kept away from any moisture. It should be vacuumed packed and better with desiccant.

B3D HIPS FILAMENT

Material: HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene)

Features:

HIPS Filament is made from High Impact Polystyrene material.  Naturally, HIPS filament has bright white color and it is also biodegradable. HIPS material is similar to ABS and share a lot of the same characteristics. It has comparable strength and durability to ABS filament. HIPS filament is extremely versatile and economical. With the feature of dissolving in D-limonene. HIPS filament is commonly used as a supporting material especially in conjunction with ABS filament.

Print Settings:

HIPS filament is generally extruded at the temperature as 210-250℃. A heated bed during the printing (at around 115℃) is usually used to reduce the problem of curling and adhesion. HIPS remain pliable until it’s cool. Do not remove your print until fully cooled or it will bend.

Application:

This material is well spread in food industry for packaging. In the 3D Printing domain, HIPS filament is commonly used as a supporting material especially in conjunction with ABS filament.

Post Processing:

Usually, the support material outside can be sanded or finished. But if the support material is inside of the printed object, a dissolvable material such as HIPS filament will be needed to remove supporting. Dissolving HIPS filament in a Limonene liquor will leave behind just the ABS filament printed sections.

Storage Method:

If your HIPS filament roll will be put on hold over a long time, please store it properly in an airtight container to keep it from attracting moisture from the ambient air.

Material: PC (Polycarbonate)

Features:

3D printer Polycarbonate filament, also known as PC filament, is a strong thermoplastic material used in 3D printing.

PC filament is such a great 3D printing filament material because of it’s strength. It is a really strong material while still maintaining temperature resistance. PC does not shatter like plexiglass. It tends to bend and deform similar to hard rubber until it eventually breaks. It also has high optical clarity. The extruded PC filament cools down quickly.

Print Settings:

Extruding temperature for PC filament is generally around 230-270°C. PC 3D filament slowly softens when heated. Slower print speeds are preferred as an increase in temperature is required for faster prints. Polyimide tape (Kapton tape) should be used on a heated bed, at around 120°C or more.

Application:

PC filament has many uses in everyday applications. It is a good electrical insulator while having heat-resistant properties. PC is used in data storage for compact discs, DVD’s and Blu-Ray’s. It is used in many medical applications as well as for parts in today’s advanced phones. It is commonly used in eye protection, and it is used after lamination to make bullet-proof glass.

Post Processing:

The objects printed with PC filament is very strong. So some special post processing methods are needed.

Storage Method:

PC absorbs a lot of moisture in the air. It is a hygroscopic material, and it is best to store in an airtight container when not in use. Even during use the material can become unprintable within a 24 hour print if in a humid environment. Therefore, keeping in an airtight container during printing as well is ideal. Dry PC filament will print more clearly. Filament that has absorbed moisture will print white as well as pop and bubble during the print.
